Morphology is the change in bed level due to sediment transport. Morphology is a complex process that requires deepened knowledge of all the underlying processes. Morphological models become more and more capable of capturing realistic morphological features on longer timescales. Dam Engineering is involved in a PhD research about long-term morphological modeling of the Western Scheldt estuary (The Netherlands). In this project the morphology of the estuary is modelled for over 100 years and compared to reality. It turns out that the prediction over 100 years is quite accurate! Read more here
